Researching & reading about online businesses showed me how much potential there was to grow financially & live the life I dreamed about – I just wasn’t sure I was ready.
How ironic is it that I needed this very same checklist… because it would’ve helped me to decide much sooner!
But I didn’t have it – so for me, it was only after having a terrifying cancer diagnosis that I had my “aha moment” & knew I wanted to live my best life now – one I could be proud of no matter what tomorrow might bring. It was clear – I had to make a decision & TAKE THE FIRST STEP!

The 5 Signs To Know if You’re Ready To Take The Next Step & Start Your Dream Online Business in 2025!
CHECKLIST
#1. Longing & Discontent Are Never Far Away
If you find yourself daydreaming out of the window about a different daily routine, a different job, more financial stability or a totally different life altogether – it’s time to re-evaluate. That feeling of discontent that creeps back in regularly is a good sign that you need to take charge of your life and find the key to your version of success.
YOU have the ability to make that change but you’re not sure what to do about it. I was in your shoes not so very long ago but I made it a priority to search & find the best tried-and-tested, step-by-step blueprint for online success out there today…and I found it – so keep reading!
A note of caution:
Longing & Discontent are healthy signs that you’re ready to develop new skills and awareness so that you can bring the change you desire – but this shouldn’t be confused with a major life event or upheaval that requires you to move past it first before even considering starting a business. You need to be in a reasonably good place emotionally, for the challenges that your business will bring – both to you personally and for those around you.

Don’t Wait For A Crisis Before Taking The Plunge
Like you, I’ve faced my fair share of struggles & challenges – but cancer was a life-changer for me and it could easily have sent me into a downward spiral that meant I would never see the life I dreamed of. Thankfully, I’m not wired that way & I’m so grateful that I had the right support to help me through.
I knew I had something more of value to give – just like you know you have more to offer but have felt limited by the confines of your current situation – but you haven’t given up – or you wouldn’t be reading this. Sadly, it often takes a major life event like mine to ‘push‘ people into action & give them the resolve to just MAKE THAT DECISION. DON’T LET THAT BE YOU!

#3. You’re Willing To Learn New Skills (Even if it’s Outside Your Comfort Zone Or You ‘Failed’ Before!)

What’s more important, is your willingness to learn; before I started, I had limited tech skills relevant to my job, but nothing special – what I have learned, is that when you commit to growing your skill set, you feel more confident and equipped to handle the challenges that inevitably come with building your online business. You become a more capable person – willing to meet things head on and find solutions through resourcefulness; in other words, you’re growing your resilience...and that can positively impact other aspects of your life – sounds good, right?
How to Know You’re Ready:
- You’re excited about learning new skills, even if it’s something you’ve never done before.
- You know in your heart that your creativity & passion can be turned into a profitable business
- You’re open to guidance, mentorship, and support from people who have already been on the same journey and successfully navigated it.
If you’ve tried to build a business in the past and failed, you might feel hesitant about jumping back in; maybe you’ve tried selling on platforms like Amazon or launching a product, but you didn’t see the results you expected – I tried that too & it didn’t work for me either, so I know it’s easy to feel disheartened… but failure isn’t the end—it’s part of the process & you will have learned some useful skills that shouldn’t be wasted; you put the time in so wouldn’t it be good to make it count for something?
The Academy Award winning director, Steven Spielberg was rejected by film school x3 TIMES – but he didn’t see any of those rejections as a failure – they were his feedback; he became persistent & unwavering in moving towards his goal – he didn’t let it stop him. WE HAVE ALL HAD SOME FAILURES – but we are not failures. What matters is how you respond.
When you frame what you’ve thought of as ‘failure‘ as a learning opportunity rather than a setback, it can become the foundation of your future growth & success; just like when we were children and learned to walk, talk, kiss and read (not necessarily in that order :-)) We stumble and fall…but we get back up again. It’s just HOW WE LEARN!

What is an affiliate?
Affiliate = the simplest way to start online – you post promotional information (images and text often supplied by the company) onto blogs, ads, social media and other marketing platforms. You are given a unique affiliate ID which is connected to every link that you put out there. When a buyer clicks YOUR link, you get a commission on that purchase – anywhere from 5%-60% – & on ‘high-ticket’ purchases, this can be a commission of hundreds or even thousands of dollars. According to Chris Haines at ahrefsblog – if you choose to promote other companies’ products as an affiliate, (NOTE: this is the simplest & fastest way to get up and running online) then this is the average, monthly income being achieved in 2024 by affiliates in the most profitable business areas (niches):

Those figures look pretty good, don’t they? But the real, longterm success that those numbers represent isn’t built with a ‘quick-fix’ mindset and a ‘get-rich-quick‘ course that promises a 6-figure income in weeks. Why? Because more often than not, they’re missing important foundations and hands-on support further down the line – just when you need it most. In truth, the most successful online businesses are founded on something called ‘AUTHORITY MARKETING’ which I’ll talk more about later but for now…
Let’s dive further into the checklist…
#4. You’ve Considered All The Potential Costs: Including What It Will Cost YOU If You Do Nothing
There are different costs to consider and although start up costs can be advertised as ”zero investment’ or low’, it’s as well to make sure that this is not because it’s a low quality option that really won’t get you to where you want to be. There are many ‘quick-fix’ courses that fill the internet but so many of them lack the integrity and structure that an experiential learning environment & step-by-step blueprint can give you….and that CAN get you exactly where you want to be.
- start your online business alongside your current job – as a sideline – (this is what I did) so you have income while you LEARN TO EARN
- many new entrepreneurs use savings, windfall money or take out a small loan – this can supercharge long-awaited dreams of having your own business – & proves your commitment to changing your life in so many ways.
Anything worth having involves some kind of investment; usually time or money. No-one wants to waste their hard-earned cash, so finding what’s right for you is important.
But there is another cost – what is the cost of giving up on your dreams?
So, how can you make sure that neither of those things happen… that you don’t waste your money NOR have to give up on your dreams…simple…Don’t GO IT ALONE! That was my biggest mistake in 2014 with my first attempt at an online business – I didn’t have the right support; I’d put in a lot of hours (and some money) to make it work. I’d sourced a product from China, set up distribution (sometimes called ‘fulfillment’) and sold over 100 units but I hadn’t built the right foundations to sustain it & it just didn’t feel right – it wasn’t ‘me‘ – so I stopped and have to admit, it felt like a failure at the time.
Fast forward 10 years and the cost to my health and family of living a life of financial uncertainty in a fast-changing world was always nagging away at me, so I’d never given up hope that there was an online business that was the right fit for me…

#5. You’re Ready To Take Action (It Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect!)
Perfectionism is one of the biggest killers of dreams. If you’re waiting for the perfect time or the perfect plan…you may never get started. When I realised this, it was a big deal because I’m a natural ‘tweaker’ & crave certainty & assurance but life rarely gives us certainty – and what we DO have, is an incredible ability to ADAPT!
The reality is, action is the catalyst for change. If you’re willing to take imperfect steps and adapt along the way, you’ll make progress faster than you think and learn one of the top secrets of successful people – to take decisions in the presence of fear – not the absence of fear because that’s what keeps us ‘locked in’ to our current circumstances – it’s a new practice that can be uncomfortable when you first start – but action-taking is a key characteristic of all successful people. You Don’t Need To Know Everything
Starting an online business doesn’t require you to know everything right from the start. What matters is deciding to take that first step, no matter how small, and adjust & learn as you go. The road to success isn’t linear—it’s messy, frustrating (at times), exciting and requires consistent action – just like life really. All you really need to know now – is the answer to…am I ready?
You may have a burning desire already but you don’t need to know what your passion is or if you want to sell a product because the blueprint that I went through, allows you to find out through a proven system exactly where you are aligned.
